What Strain is Best for Anxiety?

One of the greatest benefits of using medical marijuana is the ability to precisely adjust your dosage up and down as needed. This is often not possible with prescription medications that come in set dosages. However, for MMJ to be effective, you must learn how to measure dosage correctly and what to expect from different types of marijuana products. Let’s take a look at some of the most common dosing tips to get you started.

Flower

When we think of a marijuana dispensary, the first thing that comes to mind is jars of flower, lined up with the clever names of strains on the front. For starters, a 0.5-gram dose of flower is the typical amount in a single joint. If you have never used flower before, it is recommended that you start with half a joint, or roughly 0.25g. Since each strain has a slightly different level of CBD or THC in it, this half-joint dose will give you a starting point to test with before you work your way up to a full joint. While smoking joints is easily done, most MMJ users prefer vaporizers or bubblers because they are less irritating on the lungs, but this means you have to purchase pre-measured cartridges or you have to learn to measure your 0.5g for your vaporizer on your own.

Edibles

Edibles are becoming more popular as a way of consuming MMJ without much of the stigma related to smoking. However, edibles are not free of the challenge of dosing. The standard says that a single dose of edibles is equivalent to 10 mg of either THC or CBD. However, your body processes edibles differently than other cannabis products. As a result, you should make sure that you start with a half dose and only try adding more after 1-2 hours. Otherwise, the full effects could hit you when you’re least expecting it.

Oils and Concentrates

Oils are one of the most potent forms of medical marijuana, but they are often used for microdosing and managing severe symptoms related to chronic illness. If you have never used CBD oil before, you should be advised that a single tiny drop is usually enough to get the job done. For those who use oils and concentrates regularly, they usually take a single drop three to four times a day, without exceeding a gram of oil in a single 24 hour period.
